Job Summary:

 

The Director of Human Resources provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for all human resources functions at The Woodstock Academy. This position is responsible for employee relations, recruitment, compliance with federal, state, and Connecticut education regulations, leave administration, policy development, and employee engagement while supporting a positive workplace culture and partnering with school leadership on personnel initiatives.

 

The successful candidate will:

  • Facilitate individual, departmental, and school excellence through the support of high-quality personnel, reinforcement of best instructional practices, encouragement of a culture of collaboration, and a focus on student learning

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Education Administration, or a related field preferred
  • Three to five years of human resources, employee relations, or compliance experience, preferably in an educational setting
  • Experience with employee relations, workplace investigations, and leave administration
  • Knowledge of Connecticut employment law and educator certification requirements preferred
  • Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and documentation skills
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and professionalism
  • Experience working in a unionized environment preferred
  • Must pass a background check

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and offboarding processes for all employee groups
  • Manage employee relations and workplace investigations
  • Administer employee leave and accommodation programs, including FMLA and other protected leaves
  • Ensure compliance with Connecticut educator certification requirements and employment regulations
  • Develop, maintain, and interpret HR policies, procedures, job descriptions, and compensation structures
  • Coordinate employee engagement, recognition, and wellness initiatives
  • Partner with school leadership to support organizational planning, staffing initiatives, and strategic HR projects
